Demco Kar Kaddy (Aug 23, 2004)
Kar Kaddy SS Service Bulletin (Serial #0790 and lower)

It has come to our attention of a possible hinge bolt failure for Kar Kaddy SS units serial #0790 and lower (use the last 4 digits of your VIN number to determine if your dolly is affected by this servcie bulletin).

If the Kar Kaddy is not being towed at the recommended coupler height of 18" as shown in the operators manual on pages 4, 13, and 16, the potential exists for the hinge bolt to strike the road surface causing the hinge bolt to shear. By having the ball height lower than the recommended 18", it lowers the tongue height thus lowering the hinge height. Then by travelling on roads that may have a severe dip in them (like in a transition area from concrete to blacktop) at road speeds, it could cause the towing vehicle to dip severely, allowing the hinge bolt to contact the road surface and potentially shearing the bolt. If this occurs, the bolt could work its way upward out of the hinge bushing causing the unit to sway dramatically, or even causing the tow dolly to disconnect.
